Here is a list of

Iodine
Iodine for purifying water
may be bought in solution, crystallized, or in
tablet form.
Chlorine
Bleach
Common household bleach may
be used to disinfect water for drinking. Check
the label for instructions, as you will want to
add the right amount of bleach to the quantity
of water to be treated. Follow the instructions
on the label.
Boiling
Boiling water inactivates or
kills microorganisms that live in water at room
temperature.
Ultraviolet
Light
Microbes can be destroyed by
exposing them to the heat and light of the sun
for a sufficient length of time.
Emergency Sources of Drinking Water
When the water supply to your
home is interrupted by a crisis or disaster, you
can melt ice cubes or drain your hot water tank
to obtain drinking water.
